Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis - Mineral Content and Toxic Metals Test

20/01/2021

Would you like to know more about the mineral content and toxic metals in your body? One option that we offer is a screening test from your hair that will give you the values. Thanks to a laboratory in the USA we have this option also at our clinic. We will try to give you some information why it can be important for you.

What is it all about?

We receive a lot of heavy metals into our bodies and there are many sources of them. Starting with amalgam fillings, fish (tuna and so on), medications (for example diuretics) and finishing with contaminated drinking water. Kids can also get affected by breast milk from their mothers or through the placenta. Detection of mercury is done by hair or blood analysis (they have a correlation in a study) but hair levels are about 300 times higher.

Why should we be informed about it?

Heavy metals can affect lives of some of us. We can see for example an impairment of energy production in all body cells (due to inhibition of enzyme ATPase), they can also affect the nervous system - sensory and motor systems. That is why we can have paresthesia (burning or prickling sensation), pain in limbs, and visual and auditory disturbances. Motor disturbances can result in changes in gait, weakness, falling or tremor. These metals can also affect the function of kidneys or thyroid glands.

How does the test work?

It is a screening test that measures the mineral content of your hair. This test is for the level of 20 minerals and toxic metals in a sample of hair. This method is non-invasive and extremely accurate. Hair, like all other body tissues, contains minerals that are deposited as the hair grows. Although the hair is dead, the minerals remain as the hair continues to grow out. A sample of hair cut (close to the scalp) provides information about the mineral activity in the hair that took place over the past three to four months, depending on the rate of hair growth.

As one of two laboratories they do not wash the hair samples because it could lead to less accurate results, which was also proven in a study in 2001. The tests are being controlled many times to insure the accuracy of the results and they use the most modern technologies. A specific method (by their founder) is very unique. Apart from the metabolic data, you can also find a personal dietary supplement program, basic diet recommendations and other information that can be inferred from the test results. This report includes also information covering food preparation, changing one's habits and others.
