Thyroid, Hormones & Hidden Dental Infections: A Young Mother’s Healing Story
What if your thyroid symptoms weren't only about hormones, but about hidden inflammation in your mouth?
In Episode 55 of Healing Through Dentistry, Eva shares the story of a young mother who began searching for answers after struggling with hormonal imbalance, thyroid nodules, chronic fatigue, and a history of Lyme disease.
Despite following conventional medical recommendations, she still didn't feel well. Her thyroid markers were unstable. Her energy was low. And something in her body felt off.
Then she watched the Root Cause documentary.
For the first time, she discovered the possibility that oral health and systemic health are deeply connected. This realization led her to travel four hours from Slovakia to the DUO Smile clinic in Brno to investigate whether hidden dental infections could be contributing to her health struggles.
What followed was a powerful example of how biological dentistry can influence whole-body health.
The Search for the Root Cause
The client arrived with several systemic symptoms:
Thyroid nodules diagnosed as benign
Hormonal imbalance
Chronic fatigue
History of Lyme disease
General feeling that something in her body was not right
She also reported local discomfort in specific areas of her mouth, particularly on the right side.
Advanced diagnostics were performed:
2D panoramic X-ray (OPG)
3D CBCT scan for detailed imaging
The scans revealed multiple hidden dental problems:
Root canal treated tooth with significant bone hyperdensity on the lower right side
Two infected upper right molars with bone loss
Residual infection site from a previous wisdom tooth extraction
A slightly impacted wisdom tooth on the lower left side
These findings suggested chronic dental inflammation that could potentially influence systemic health.
The Biological Treatment Plan
After discussing the findings, a biological treatment plan was designed.
The plan included removing the sources of chronic inflammation:
Extraction of infected root canal treated teeth
Removal of the residual infection site
Extraction of the impacted wisdom tooth
In biological dentistry, the goal is not only to remove diseased tissue but also to restore balance within the body's regulatory systems.
The Pre-Surgery Protocol
Preparation plays a critical role in biological dental surgery.
For at least one month before and after surgery, patients are advised to follow a strict healing protocol that supports the immune system and bone metabolism.
The protocol included:
Dietary preparation
No gluten
No refined sugar
No processed foods
No coffee
No smoking
Nutritional support
High-dose Vitamin D
Collagen and protein support
Essential minerals and vitamins
Supplements designed to strengthen the immune system and bone metabolism
This preparation helps the body handle surgery with less stress and improved healing capacity.
The Tooth–Organ Connection
From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, teeth are connected to organ systems through meridians.
In this case, the affected teeth were particularly interesting.
The upper right molars are connected energetically to:
Stomach
Spleen
Pancreas
Thyroid gland
Hormonal regulation
Lower wisdom teeth are also associated with hormonal balance.
Because the client's primary symptoms involved thyroid function and hormonal disruption, this connection raised an important clinical question:
Could removing the chronic dental inflammation improve systemic balance?
The Result: Hormonal Balance Returns
Three and a half weeks after surgery, the client returned for a follow-up visit.
She shared an unexpected improvement.
Her menstrual cycle had returned to a normal rhythm for the first time in over a year and a half.
Previously she had experienced:
Premenstrual syndrome
Spotting several days before menstruation
Prolonged cycles lasting up to two weeks each month
After the dental treatment:
Her cycle arrived on time
Premenstrual symptoms improved
The prolonged bleeding disappeared
This was not the only improvement.
She also reported:
Increased vitality and energy
Better sleep quality
Clearer and healthier skin
The changes suggested that removing chronic oral inflammation may have reduced systemic stress on her body.
Nervous System and Inflammation
Chronic dental infections can influence the body in ways that are not always obvious.
Long-term oral inflammation may contribute to:
Immune system overload
Hormonal dysregulation
Chronic fatigue
Autonomic nervous system stress
When the source of inflammation is removed, the body often responds quickly with improved regulation and recovery.
Many patients report changes such as:
Increased energy
Better sleep
Improved skin
Emotional lightness
Hormonal stabilization
What This Episode Teaches
How hidden dental infections may influence systemic health
Why 3D CBCT imaging is essential for detecting chronic inflammation
How root canal treated teeth can become long-term inflammatory sources
Why preparation before biological dental surgery improves healing outcomes
How oral health may influence hormonal balance and thyroid regulation
The connection between teeth, organs, and meridians in integrative dentistry
Why many patients experience increased vitality after removing dental infections
Why Episode 55 Matters
Many people search for answers when they experience symptoms like:
Hormonal imbalance
Thyroid issues
Chronic fatigue
Skin problems
Low energy
But few consider the possibility that hidden dental infections could play a role.
Biological dentistry asks a different question:
Where is the chronic stress in the body coming from?
Sometimes the answer is not in blood tests or medications.
Sometimes the answer is hidden in the mouth.
Healing often begins when the source of inflammation is finally removed and the body can return to balance.
